POSTED JANUARY 28, 2026
February Follies is a go for Sunday, February 25, 2001! Gates will open at 2 P.M. and racing at 3 P.M.! We will run the same as Mottville Maddness V with Street Stocks, Bombers, Four Cylinders, Thunder Cars and Karts and no durameter rule on the tires!
We have had at least 10 drivers say they will be there and we are excited about running a race in February and the week after the "500"! The regular season will then open just 6 days later on Saturday March 3rd.! I was at the track Saturday and still lots of snow! A light covering of snow on the track, but I drove around the track fine!
Jean Behlke, 1999 Mottville Stock Champion and the first female Points Champion in the history of Mottville Speedway, sent me an email this past week and she will return to Mottville in her number 80 Mottville Stock in 2001! She says she is planning on running all season and son Andrew will have a kart plus her husband Todd will have a kart and also her father, Tom Koehler, a kart! So with 3 karts from the Behlke's and 4 from the Brown-Forsyth team we should have a great kart season in 2001! Jean did make an interesting comment saying that since they quit racing at Mottville, son Andrew had to race his kart on dirt and "that's for farming"! I certainly agree with that! Jean also was most impressed with our web site, saying it was one of the best she had ever seen! We look forward to having her and her family back at Mottville in 2001!
There has been a Randy Morley sighting!! Actually it was an email! Randy wrote that the motors are not done yet for his 4 cylinder truck or his track Champion Street Stock, but he thinks he can thrash around and have a Bomber for February Follies! He does plan on having his Mottville Stock truck done by opening night, however!
Speaking of Morley, Tom Pearson told me this week that Scott Baker is working on building a Street Stock that Scott thinks will give Morley a real run for the money this season at Mottville! Should be interesting! Just a very very few days left to get those Banquet tickets! February 1st is the deadline and after that we might sell you a ticket but we can not get you a Plaque or points money! February 1st is firm for those two items! This will be our biggest and best Awards Banquet ever! It is February 10th, Saturday at Del-Mar Catering Hall in Nappanee and they have the world's best Swiss steak, bar none! I mean no one in this entire world makes better Swiss steak! Plus their chicken is the best and it is all you can eat! Salad bar, corn, rolls, soft drinks, coffee, lemonade, baked potato's and pie! I am getting hungry just thinking about it!
We will have 2001 schedules at the Banquet and you are welcome to pick up several and get them posted all over Michiana! After the regular season ends November 24th we are planning on Mottville Maddness VI on January 5, 2002 and then February Follies to follow! That means the only month we would not have a race would be December and since my birthday is in December maybe we should have a birthday race! Who knows?
Talked to Paul Scott from Conner's Auto Salvage and Towing today and he is most excited about February Follies and has a Cadillac Thunder Car he wants to run there! He is working on a Street Stock for the regular season but the wrecker business has been so good this winter he has not had time to work on it much! Paul says he is ready to again plow snow for February Follies! In January he plowed snow until 5 A.M. race day and I certainly hope he does not have to do so in February!
George Roulette, the famous $2 bill man from Illinois, sent me a letter this week. He has been associated with a track in Illinois for 44 years and announced there for the last 15 and says they may not open in 2001 and if they do not he plans on traveling around a lot of tracks, including Mottville and wanted a schedule! I know how he feels as I always wanted to take a year and do nothing but visit race tracks all over the Midwest and then all over the entire country! Would be something close to being in Heaven I would imagine! I still have some of George's $2 bills that I keep for good luck! He donated a bunch of them for our final race of the season last November and is always most generous!
So spread the word about FEBRUARY FOLLIES to one and all! Look forward to seeing everyone at the Banquet and FEBRUARY FOLLIES and then getting our 51st season of racing at Mottville started! I am planning on going to Florida for Speed Week this year right after the Awards Banquet and will be giving a full report on the races from Florida after I return! Should be most interesting and I am really looking forward to it but actually I am looking forward even more to another great season of racing action at Mottville Speedway!!
REMEMBER GET THOSE TICKETS!!!
BE AT THE BANQUET!!!
