Warm
weather brought out the largest crowd and car counts of the young season
Saturday night at the Mottville Speedway!
The fans were treated to some great racing especially in the Thunder Car feature when Bill Crapo just beat Cindy Grinnell in a near photo finish in the 30 lapper! It was Crapo’s 3rd feature win of the season and second in a row! Randy Burns was 3rd followed by Bryan Whitaker and Richard Allbee. Whitaker kept his season points lead and won his first ever dash! Grinnell nipped Allbee for the heat win.
Robert Teadt, Jr. and David Fugate both came to Mottville for the first time in the 2002 season. Teadt won the 35 lap feature with Fugate closing in fast for 2nd at the end! Wesley Schaefer was a strong 3rd and Jason Schaefer 4th. Terry Kline also came to Mottville for the first time in 2002 and was 5th after winning the dash! Fugate won the heat.
Fred Garrett finally lost a Mini Thunder Car feature after winning 6 in a row! Rick Fritz managed to hold Garrett for the final laps and the win after a restart! Rookie Greg Schaefer, driving in his first feature ever, was 3rd. In the dash Jennifer Jenkins hit the wall in turn 1 early in the race and on the last lap her husband, Brian Jenkins, hit the wall in turn 4! Both cars were done for the night! Fritz won the dash and Garrett the heat.
Donald Hunley won the Pro Stock feature in easy fashion when first Paul Scott’s car quit running and then Scott Baker’s car started smoking giving the win to Hunley by default, his 2nd feature win of the season!
In another close race Bill Stump won his first feature win of the season in a close win over his son, Justin, in the 8 lap kart feature!
We registered 8 new cars for the night and on Thursday had our largest practice of the season! It is really amazing what happens when the weather warms up!
Two specials have been added to the schedule! Sunday, April 28 the Mottville Stock 4 Cylinders will run for $250 to win and Sunday, May 5 for Cinco De Mayo Day the Pro Stocks will run for $350 to win! Plus tacos will be only $1 and homemade!
