POSTED April 28, 2025

It was yet another cold and windy night at the Mottville Speedway Sunday, April 28 but at least it did not rain and the track was dry! Good-by April ! It was the worse April in the last 12 years for racing as far as weather went! Hopefully this is the end of cold weather until at least November!

Josh Salter took a wide ride in the 25 lap Mottville Stock feature! He and Jason Schaefer were battling it out for the lead on lap 18 when they got together in turns 3 and 4 and Josh took a wild ride into the woods and hit two trees, one fairly large, and knocked the bark off the tree! The tires in turns 3 and 4 did soften the impact some and Josh was fine and his car is repairable! Schaefer went on to his 6th feature win of the season and padded his season points lead! Wesley Schaefer was 2nd and Gerald Kamps 3rd.

Terry Kline looked awesome in winning his 2nd Pro Stock feature of the season, a 25 lapper over Paul Scott and Ron Maynard, Jr. (driving the Matt Buzzard number 9). Newcomer Stan Siczak was 4th and Fred Lowrey 5th. The win was worth $125 to Kline who also took the dash and heat!

Randy Burns won the dash, two heats and the 25 lap Thunder Car feature and in the process took over the season points lead in the TC division! Richard Allbee and Bryan Whitaker were absent and Burns zoomed by them in the standings! Harold Blowers finished a season high 2nd in the feature with newcomer Doug Gage 3rd and Merle Yoder (driving Whitaker’s car) 4th. Cindy Grinnell blew a tire and was out early and Eric Root could not get his car running for the feature.

Joe Fitzpatrick won the Mini Thunder Car heat and appeared well on the way to winning the 20 lap feature before the cars were turned around after 10 laps. At that point season points leader Fred Garrett took command and held off Fitzpatrick for his 10th win in 12 nights!

Usually April is one of my favorite months and I really hate to wish my life away but I am honestly glad to see this April over! It seemed race night after race night we had rain, cold and wind! You expect some of this in April but not race night after race night! Most of the nice April weather was not on Saturday and Sunday!

But there is hope for the future! The early forecast for Saturday is a temp in the 60’s and dry and for Sunday even better with a temp in the 70’s! PTL!!!

Sunday the PS run for $350 to win and tacos are just $1 each and they will be homemade and big! Car counts should be really picking up with the warmer weather so come on out and see some great racing at Mottville!
