Rich Fritz won his 2nd Mini Thunder Car feature of the season on a beautiful Sunday night at the Mottville Speedway as we celebrated Cinco De Mayo Day at the track for the first time with $1 tacos! Fritz drove away from Saturday’s feature winner Joe Fitzpatrick who had to settle for 2nd! Jennifer Jenkins, in a new car, was a most impressive 3rd and season points leader Fred Garrett was 4th! We had a season high 7 MTC and reports are that Brian Jenkins will be back next week with his car! Fitzpatrick won the dash and Fritz the heat!

Randy Burns won his 5th Thunder Car feature of the season and this time passed weight with 130 lbs to spare! Saturday night he won but was 200 lbs short and was dq'ed! Burns had to fight off John Wegner and Robert Sutton for the win! Wegner won the dash and Burns the heat. We had 6 TC as several regulars were gone including Richard Allbee (his father died and he blew his engine Saturday night) , Eric Root (mechanical problems) and Cindy Grinnell and Harold Blowers for unknown reasons.

Bombers returned for the 2nd time this season and Stan Siczak won the 15 lap feature over Wayne Saily, Vern Hammond and Jason Weber. Saily won the heat for his first ever win! Siczak said after the win that he was bringing more Bombers with him next week! We had 4 again Sunday night and paid $75 to win!

Jeff Brunt won his 3rd Pro Stock feature of the season with a 15 lap victory over Paul Scott, Terry Kline and Melissa Worthington. The win was worth $125 to Brunt who also won the dash. When you offer $350 to win with the stipulation of only an 8 car minimum it is really disappointing to have only 4 cars in a class! What more we can possibly do I have no idea! We are offering $350 again to win on May 19 as long as we have 8 cars but if we do not get at least 12 we will probably not be running any more PS specials this season until the Indiana-Michigan Challenge Cup in October! Of course, we will keep the class and pay from $75 to $125 for 3-5 cars. But we would like to paying $200-$250 for 12-15 cars each night!

Robert Teadt, Jr. made it 5 feature wins for the season as he won the 15 lap Mottville Stock feature over Jason Schaefer and Wesley Schaefer and also won the heat. Teadt picked up $75 for winning a 3 car feature! As with the PS division I have no idea why we can not get more cars as we are paying as well as most tracks in the area! With as few as 8 cars we pay $100 and on some nights have paid $100 to win with less than 8! But we will continue on with what we have and pay $75 to $100 per night!

I know this is equally frustrating for the drivers who show up to run PS and MS as it is for me! But I guess the only answer is keep at it and wait for someone to see how good it can be to race at Mottville!

Meanwhile our TC and MTC divisions continue to do well and now we have the Bomber division again! If things go well with the Bombers we may run a special for them on Memorial Day Week-end Sunday, May 26 for $250 to win!

This Sunday the Mottville Stocks will run for $250 to win if we have at least 8 cars! Larry Birk says he will be back with his 97 MS and I know we have had 21 different drivers at Mottville in the MS already this season so there is no reason we can not get at least 8 for Sunday!

Sunday is Mother’s Day and all mothers will receive a free hot dog and soft drink! The tacos went well and will we have them for just $1 again this Saturday and Sunday but that is it as they are a lot of work! But they are really delicious too!

All in all it was a good week-end with bigger crowds and nice weather! Sunday’s car count was 2 more than Saturday and the crowd was only slightly bigger than Saturday!

By Saturday I will certainly be ready for another two days of exciting racing action at Mottville and I hope you will be also! 14 down and 62 to go!
