JIM MOORE MOTORS IN NAPPANEE will sponsor 6 awards plaques for our February 15 banquet! This will be our 12th annual awards banquet and JIM MOORE MOTORS has sponsored plaques for all 12 of them! I have purchased so many cars from JIM MOORE MOTORS I really can not count them all but I always get a good deal so if you are in the market for a new or used car stop by JIM MOORE MOTORS on US 6 east in Nappanee and see John Moore or one of his people and tell them you heard about them at the Mottville Speedway! We will fax our trophy-plaque order Monday and we have a total of 55! All time record high and almost 70 people attending! Also an all time record high! Should be a terrific banquet and the kick off to the 2003 which looks more and more like it will be our most successful season ever! Only about 20 of the 55 awards are sponsored so the other 35 have to come out of our points money which will reduce the amount we give out but still what we give out will be very comparable if not in some cases better than other tracks in our area which is very good for an operation our size! Lots of VERY POSITIVE NEWS this week! Even some very positive messages on our bulletin board! Unbelievable! I had long conversation over the phone with John Wegner and found out to my utter amazement that he intends to return to Mottville in 2003 with a brand new street stock! Plus he says Ron Coburn is not certain where he will run in 2003 and may also run some at Mottville! John will become the father of a boy sometime between mid and late February! Talked to Paul Scott and Matt Buzzard this week. Matt plans on traveling around to several tracks. Paul says he is cutting back on racing in 2003. In 2002 he achieved his goal of winning a track championship and now he wants to relax more! But he has the banquet on his calendar and also the February 23 February Follies II! He told me the new car of Randy Burns looks like (key word here is looks) a late model but is a legal Pro Stock! The bulletin board message from Art Krontz stating he will run Mottville in 2003 and go for a first ever season points championship was really a shocker! Art ran with us in 1991 and I had not seen him for many years until he came to watch this past season! His mother was my first scorer back in 1991! Will be great to have him back! Not sure who the Jeff is that is referred to on the bulletin board and who left his own message saying he is running 4 cylinders! Looks like the deep freeze we have been under for almost all of 2003 might finally lift early next week and I can find out just how many frozen/busted pipes we have! I do know now that you have to leave the water running when the temps get down to below 25 or so! Lesson learned! I had no idea at all Scott Baker was so popular! Not only on our bulletin board but on the message board of the South Bend Motor Speedway as well! Big following! The January issue of the Marc Times Racing News arrived yesterday and we have them for sale at our office if you need a copy. We have an ad in the issue for our March 1 and 2 regular season opener and will have the same ad in the February issue. I plan on advertising early and late in 2003 plus for the MCR Dwarf cars. Bottom line will be increased advertising over the last few seasons but keyed to when we might actually pick up some cars and fans, early and late in the season and for outside shows. I am currently putting the finishing touches on things for the 2003 racing season! Schedule is about done unless we have happen to schedule another outside show. Have one big one hanging but I am doubtful we get it done as it probably just too big for us. Actually we run so few outside shows in recent years that only two organizations even contacted me this off season! Actually that is fine with me because if you can not make a profit on an outside show why book it? If I am going to lose money I would prefer losing it on our regular drivers who support us each and ever y week-end! At this point it really looks good for the 2003 racing season at Mottville! No we will not have late models and no we are not cutting back to less nights and no we are not having a separate points series with less race nights but for those who are really into racing and want something affordable and fun we are the place to be! If you do not want to run 86 nights that is fine too. We welcome one night per week racers as well! Now just 3 weeks until the 12th annual awards banquet! You can still get tickets for $25 each but after Saturday its too late to get a plaque if you buy your ticket after that. Just 4 weeks now until February Follies II and 5 weeks until the regular season opens! In the midst of this artic cold that gives me hope that spring truly is not far away!
