POSTED JANUARY 31, 2026

The worse month of the year is now over and thankfully it is first month of the year! So its all downhill from here on out the rest of the year! January 2003 has featured miserable weather, one of the coldest ever, bad economic news, talk of another war, and for me, personally, some real challenges! Actually the highlight of the month was our Mottville Madness VI which probably was close to the best weather of the month! Good turn out and good racing! Judy Holden is sponsoring 8 plaques for our 12th Annual Awards Banquet on February 15! She joins Goshen Collision Center (8), Jim Moore Motors (6), Faubian Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Hair Dimensions and Robert Sutton as sponsors and we really appreciate and value their support! All trophies and plaques have been ordered and will be picked up next week! Also ordered the first plaques for the 2003 racing season and February 23 February Follies II which is just 3 weeks away! Tickets can still be purchased at our office in Nappanee or by mail to POB 207, Nappanee, In. 46550 for $25 each but we can not sell tickets at the door due to needing to have a firm reservation number for the banquet hall! I have been fine tuning the 2003 racing schedule this week and we will have copies of the schedule at the banquet and then on this web site, probably around February 17. I am hoping this "tentative schedule" stays pretty close for the entire 2003 season! Pro Stocks will run their season championship on the first Sunday of November and will not run when we have the MCR Dwarf Cars for 3 Saturdays or July 5 which is a Friday. They also will not run when we have the two powder puffs on Saturdays. Thus as it stands now Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Mini Thunder Cars and Karts will run 82 points nights and Pro Stocks will run 68.Should we schedule any other outside shows we would not run the PS on those nights. But as of now I do not think we will be adding anymore outside shows. My hope is that we get enough thawing by Monday to unfreeze our water pipes at the track! I think in front they are frozen between the pump and the concession-rest room building and in back between the pump and well. It may require a lot more thawing before we find out! I was at the track Thursday night and we have a lot of snow! I see we may get some rain and that would get rid of the snow pretty quickly! The Awards Banquet is not only the recognition for the 2002 season but the kickoff to the 2003 season! It is always an exciting and fun time and then just 8 days later we have February Follies II-a non points race! 6 days after that we kick off the regular season with points races on March 1 and 2! After that is full throttle ahead until the end of November. After 82 races for points we will end 2003 with 2 non-points races in December! Saturday, December 6 we will run another benefit race and December 13 for the first time we run a birthday race! Been wanting to do this for 12 years and will finally do it! Just writing this gets me very excited about the 2003 racing season at the Mottville Speedway! I think we have the right stock car classes for good racing and in tough economic times we can offer people a place to race where they can have fun for a reasonable price! This applies to both drivers and fans! Our pit passes will stay at $20 which they have been for many years and our adult admission will stay at $10. Plus our street stocks, Mini Stocks and Mini Thunder Cars are not expensive to build or run! even our Pro Stocks are less expensive, way less expensive, than late models! So should be a great 2003 season! I am certain there will be challenges and disappointments along the way, there always are, but there will be fun and excitement also, plenty of it! Banquet only 2 weeks away,, February Follies 3 weeks, season opener 4 weeks and January is history! Now for some warmer weather!
