CHUCK HALL won his first Mini Thunder Car feature of the season on a beautiful night at the Mottville Speedway! Hall, in his 2nd night of racing in 2003, battled two time defending champion Fred Garrett for the entire 25 laps and at the finish it was Hall by about an inch! It was first feature this season that Garrett failed to win! Season points leader Derk Sargent was 3rd, In the heat it was Garrett, Hall, Sargent and Richard Allbee.

The Pro Stocks and Mini Stocks ran a combined 25 lap feature and PS season points leader and defending champion Paul Scott held off Jeff Brunt for his 5th feature win of the season! John Fitzpatrick was 3rd and Eric Root 4th.

We had karts for the first time this season and Ike Sloop and Tim Kirts really put on a show! They battled side by side lap after lap in both the 15 lap feature and 8 lap heat with Sloop taking the feature and Kirts the heat. On lap 9 of the feature Sloop went off the track in turn 3 but the tires saved him and he was able restart and take the lead!

Allbee worked on his car all day Sunday and as a result was unable to start the feature! Jon Fitzpatrick, MS season points leader, an engine problems hot lapping and was unable to run. Joe Fitzpatrick reported his MS will be ready next week-end as will Jon’s!

Merle Yoder was present but without a car. He reported his car needed tires and had an oil leak. Paul Scott told me he knows for certain we will have our first street stock of 2003 Saturday as he knows a Goshen driver who is bringing one!

Randy Burns was present to watch but told a track official it would be another two weeks before his PS is ready!

Fred Garrett reports Steve Clifford will have his MTC at the track next week-end!

It was great to see some karts already! After the races another karter stopped by inquire about karts so we may well have a good field before long!

Of our first 3 week-ends of racing this was by far the best weather! Almost picture perfect! Hopefully the great weather allowed more drivers to be working on their cars and we should improving cars counts each week-end! This week-end the car counts were up over the first two week-ends!

I should be on the chat room both Monday and Wednesday after 8:30 pm and perhaps Tuesday and Thursday also. Last week we found out that 10 is our max in the room at one time! We can enlarge that to 40 for a price and will do so if we continue to fill the room most nights!

6 points nights down in this 2003 season and 79 to go! For the PS only 32 at the most to go! Some exciting racing already! The 9 MS on Saturday is really encouraging to think how many we may well have in a couple weeks! Getting karts this early also is most encouraging! MTC are steadily growing! Now if we finally get the SS class going! I know a lot of them are planning on running once they get their cars done!
