POSTED APRIL 5 , 2003
JON
FITZPATRICK won his 6th Mini Stock feature
of the season and padded his season points lead on a very cold Saturday night at
the Mottville Speedway!
The
weather was again bitter cold with an actual race time temperature of 28 and
wind chills in the teens! But the racing action was hot as Fitzpatrick won the
35 lapper over Eric Root, defending MS season points champion Joe Fitzpatrick
and Merle Yoder.
Yoder
won the dash over Jon Fitzpatrick and Joe Fitzpatrick while Root won his first
heat race of the season over Yoder and Joe Fitzpatrick.
Scott
Rozner came to Mottville for the first time 2003 and won the 15 lap street stock
feature over season points leader Brad Blackburn.
Fred
Garrett won his 8th Mini Thunder Car feature of the season over
season points leader Derk Sargent and the results were the same in the heat.
Chuck Hall broke during hot laps and was unable to race in the MTC division.
Chad
Layman won his first kart feature of the season in a 12 lapper.
The
cold weather was especially
disappointing since we had temperatures as high as 80 during the week! Tuesday I
was filling some pot holes in the track and actually sweated!
We
ran the program in about 1 hour and 10 minutes as we try to get people out early
when its this cold!
We
should be announcing some new outside shows this week! Monday we know about 3
more dates for a group which last ran with us in 1999 and puts on an awesome
show and now has 25 cars! We have already booked, but not announced, another
group for two dates. This latter group has never run at Mottville before. After
Monday we should have only 3 Saturdays between April 26 and September 27 that do
not have an outside show and we will have an all time record high of 23 outside
shows!
Supposed
to be a little warmer Sunday and the time changes so while we open at 5 Michigan
time Sunday it will be only 4 in Indiana! Race time is 6 Michigan time which is
5 in Indiana! Next Saturday temps are supposed to be in the 50’s and we open
at 6 Michigan time which is 5 in Indiana and race at 7 Michigan time which is 6
in Indiana.
Thursday
practices are 6-9 Michigan time which is 5-8 in Indiana. We had a very good turn
out for the first one last Thursday! I had been told only 2 cars and a kart but
that information was incorrect as we had far more!
Here’s
hoping for some warmer weather on the week-ends!
