ERIC
ROOT win his 2nd Mini Stock feature
of the season and took over the season points lead on cool Saturday night at the
Mottville Speedway!
Root
won his 2nd feature in a row as he took the 25 lapper over Jesse
Gaylord and Joe Fitzpatrick. Gaylord won the heat over Root and Fitzpatrick.
A
season high 7 Mini Thunder Cars were on hand and they put on an exciting show of
close racing with Steve Clifford winning his 2nd feature of the
season with a 35 lap victory over two time defending champion Fred Garrett,
Chuck Hall, Derk Sargent, Bob Johnson, Danny Zimmerman and Richard Allbee.
Clifford
and Garrett battled it out for 30 of the 35 laps until Garrett had a tire going
down which forced him to slow down.
Clifford
won the Jenkin’s NAPA Auto Parts Stores dash over Hall and Garrett while Hall
took the heat over Clifford and Garrett.
Robert
Sutton brought his new number 71 truck to Mottville for the first time in 2003
and won the 15 lap street stock feature over Scott Rozner.
Chad
Layman won his 2nd kart feature of the season in a 12 lapper and also
took the heat.
The
Short Track Trucks. Com Challenge Series had two trucks on hand for an
exhibition and gave fans a preview of what to expect when they bring their full
force to Mottville on June 14 and August 16! They have 23 registered drivers!
Mike
Grand was expected to bring his ss, however he put it on the trailer and in
doing so discovered he had engine problems!
Sunday
it’s the Easter Hams race with hams going to all dash and heat winners in all
divisions plus the kart feature winner! It is supposed to be even warmer than it
was Saturday!
After
the races Chuck Hall told me he thinks 35 laps for MTC is too many and I totally
agree and plan to limit them to 15-25 laps from now on. This should save them
some expense.
