ROBERT
SUTTON won his 2nd street stock
feature of the season on a warm Sunday night at the Mottville Speedway! Sutton,
driving a truck, led the entire 25 laps and took home $100 for the night! Matt
Buzzard was 2nd and took over the season points lead with Sutton
moving into 2nd in the points! Bobby Grice was 3rd and
Terry Zimmerman 4th. Heat results were the same.
Jeff
Brunt returned to Mottville after an absence of several weeks and won his 2nd
Pro Stock feature of the season with a 15 lap victory over season points leader
Paul Scott and Ryan Prough. Scott won the heat over Brunt and Prough.
Merle
Yoder took home another $100 for the night as he won the 25 lap Mini Stock
feature for his 6th feature win of the season! Season points leader
Eric Root was 2nd followed by Kristi Zimmerman and Glenna Sargent.
Results were the same in the heat.
Steve
Clifford held off two time Mini Thunder Car defending champion Fred Garrett for
his 4th feature win of the season in a 15 lapper. On
lap 7 Clifford was sent to the tail for violating the lead rule but came back on
lap 11 to take the lead again! Season points leader Derk Sargent was 3rd
and Randy Morley 4th. Results in the heat were the same.
Defending
kart champion Jacob Caines moved within one point of the season points lead by
taking the kart heat and feature.
This
Saturday the Mottville Mini Cups return and May 10 the Midwest Classic Racers
Dwarf Cars return for the first time since 1999.
Actual
car count in the pits was 19 but 3 cars did not run because of various ailments!
Clifford
moved to 4th in the MTC season point standings. Morley had a wheel
bearing go out in his PS Saturday night and did not run his PS Sunday. We hope
to see his PS next Sunday with a brand new body! Should be amazing!
Sutton
really looked awesome in his feature and heat win and seems to have his flywheel
problems solved. However his truck was running hot after the feature.
Once
again the car count was higher on Sunday than Saturday!
Since
the PS and SS divisions do run the track tire a car finishing other than first
does receive more money for running them if they purchased them from the
speedway. First pays the same regardless but after that running the track tire
pays more. Both the PS and SS feature winners were running the track tire, in
fact all the PS were running the track tire!
All
in all in it was nice week-end! Great weather and good racing and encouraging
crowds and car counts with more to come!
I
probably will not be on the chat room Monday but hope to be on some Tuesday and
Wednesday.
I
am most interested in hearing from Mini Stock drivers if they are interested in
going to the Goodyear track tire again at some point in the season. They would
still have the option of running any max 70 series tire that diameters at 60 or
harder. I am not pushing this, however, just asking for opinions from the MS
drivers as the car count appears to be the same regardless of which tire we use.
I did have a MS driver tell me this week that after getting a radial tire shaved
he has about $70 in it and the Goodyear is $90 but he feels the Goodyear lasts
longer and the car handles far better with the Goodyear!
17
points nights now over and April is now over! Wow did it
ever go fast and compared to March
April was much warmer and much more successful! With some exciting shows coming
up in May it should really be an exciting month!
