JASON
WEAVER came to the Mottville Speedway for the
first time in 2003 Sunday night and won the 25 lap Mini stock feature and took
home $110 for the night!
Jon
Fitzpatrick returned after an absence of several weeks and came home 2nd
followed by Tim Barrick, season points leader Eric Root, Joe Fitzpatrick, Danny
Zimmerman, Glenna Sargent, Kristi Zimmerman, Jamison Corn and Lee Adkins.
Root
won the dash over Jon Fitzpatrick, Joe Fitzpatrick
and Sargent.
In
the first heat it was Root over Kristi Zimmerman and Danny Zimmerman while
Weaver took the4 2nd heat over Jon Fitzpatrick and Barrick.
A
season high 10 MS were on hand including 4 cars present for the first time this
season. Sargent moved into 6th place in the season point standings.
Steve
Clifford won his 6th Mini Thunder Car feature of the season and 3rd
in a row as he took the 15 lapper over season points leader Derk Sargent, two
time defending champion Fred Garrett, Chuck Hall, Brian Foote, Richard Allbee
and Brian Powers.
Clifford
won the dash over Garrett and Sargent and results were the same in the heat.
Jeff
Brunt scored his 3rd Pro Stock feature of the season with a 15 lap
victory over Randy Morley, Leonard Jones and season points leader Paul Scott.
Brunt won the heat over Scott and Morley.
Street
stock season points leader Robert Sutton won his 4th feature of the
season in a 15 lapper with Bobby Grice 2nd. Sutton also won the heat.
This
Saturday will be the biggest night of the young season as the Midwest Classic
Dwarf cars come to Mottville for the first time since 1999. Gates will open at
4:30 for this special show with racing starting at 7.
Sunday
night all mothers will receive a free hot dog and soft drink!
Due
to the threat of rain we ran a fast program, coming the 9 events in just one
hour and 50 minutes! The rain came about an hour and a half after the racing was
over!
We
had 22 cars on hand, 2nd best total this season! Besides the 10 MS we
had 7 MTC to tie their season high!
I
wondered how long it would be before the MS car count picked up since we are
paying this class very, very well! I keep reports of how much other tracks are
paying and we are very much in contention. Plus it generally costs far less to
race at Mottville than many other tracks as we tend to have less crashes and
thus less more costly repairs. Plus we run fast shows and you get out much
earlier!
Barry
Harrison should have his MS done for this Saturday! Merle Yoder was at the track
but without his car! So its easy to
see we could have had 12 cars in the MS division!
Pro
Stocks are going about as expected but why we are having so much trouble getting
SS is beyond me when we pay $90 or $100 to win the feature even with as low as 3
cars! Generally cars on Goodyear track tires in the SS division make at least
$40 if they are competitive. I am certain there are cars running C and D
features at other tracks who could be far ahead to run at Mottville!
But
one thing I have learned over my 13 years of trying to run Mottville Speedway is
that we need to run our program and eventually people will get the message and
show up! While many tracks around us have failed and changed ownership over the
last 13 season we just keep running along doing our thing and having fun!
I
am really excited about this coming week-end! The dwarfs averaged 28 cars per
date last season! If they have that many this Saturday it means a dash, 3 heats
and two features just for the dwarfs! Also will mean our own divisions will run
only 15 lap features! Plus the Midwest Classic Races will be giving away a
TV-Stereo combination in a drawing that some lucky person will win!
So
until then have a great week!
