GLENNA
SARGENT won the first ladies powder puff in
several years at the Mottville Speedway on a cool, breezy and dark Saturday
night!
Sargent,
a rookie in the Mini Stock this season with 9 nights of racing experience, was
allowed to run one powder puff and she won the 12 lapper easily over first
timers Shelly Lauderdale and Judith Holden!
Street
Stock season points leader Robert Sutton won his 6th feature of the
season with a 12 lap victory over Mike Mersich.
Results were the same in the heat.
Mini
Stock season points leader Eric Root won his 5th feature of the
season with a 12 lap win over leading rookie Glenna Sargent with heat results
the same. Sargent moved into 3rd in the season point standings.
Two
time Mini Thunder Car defending season points champion Fred Garrett passed
Richard Allbee on the final lap of the 15 lap MTC feature to win his 14th
feature of the season and move within 8 points of season points leader Derk
Sargent who finished 3rd. Results were the same in the heat.
Ike
Sloop and Tim Kurts put on a tremendous show in the kart heat and feature with
passing every lap before Sloop won his 4th feature of the season in a
12 lapper and Kurts won the heat, passing Sloop in a daring move coming out of
turn 4!
Had
an email from Mottville Mini Cup season points leader John “The Outlaw”
Hackler asking if the MMC could race Monday. So they may well join the field for
Monday’s show!
We
installed two new windows in the ticket-pit pass booth Thursday and they really
look terrific! Makes the building look very modern as this is usually the first
building people see when entering the speedway this is most important! Richard
Allbee did a nice job installing the windows!
Happy
birthday today to our pit stewart Tom Pearson. I know it was less than a perfect
birthday for Tom as he has a splinter in his eye and has to have surgery Tuesday
to have it removed!
Sunday
is autograph night and the cars and drivers will come to the front stretch
before the races start to sign autographs for about 20 minutes. Racing will then
start at 6:30 Michigan time.
Monday
is a trophy night with trophies going to all dash and heat winners and top 3 in
the features for SS, Pro Stocks, MS, MTC, Karts and possible MMC will also be
hand so it should be a big, big night of racing at Mottville!
Seems
hard
to believe it's
Memorial Day week-end already especially with the very cool weather! Usually you
figure it will be about 80 around Memorial Day! But it is supposed to warm up
some for Sunday and even more for Monday!
The
next powder puff is June 28 and if we can
find her a car to drive Rita Courtney
will join at least Shelly and Judy in racing! The more the merrier!
Also
before you know it June 27 will be here and first of several Friday night
specials! The first one has the MS running 50 laps for $250 to win!
One night down in our first triple header week-end of the season and I am eager for night two Sunday night!
