DON
WALLACE returned to the Mottville Speedway for
the first time in 3 years Saturday night and went on to win the 20 lap Mini
Stock feature over season points leader Eric Root, Jesse Gaylord and leading
rookie Glenna Sargent!
Gaylord
won the dash over Root and Sargent while Root took the heat over Gaylord and
Wallace.
Charley
Krontz won his 8th Street Stock feature of the season with a 20 lap
victory over season points leader Robert Sutton, Willie Wallace, Mike Mersich
and Bryan Calkins. In the Jenkins NAPA Auto Parts Stores dash it was Mersich
over Sutton and Krontz and in the heat it was Krontz over Sutton and Mersich.
Shelly
Lauderdale won her first powder puff ever as she just barely held off Rita
Courtney for the win in the 12 lapper with Judith Holden 3rd. Many
thanks to the Sargents and Josh West for loaning their cars for the powder puff!
Mini
Thunder Car season points leader Derk Sargent padded his points lead by winning
the 12 lap feature and heat while Bomber season points leader Josh West on the
heat and 12 lap feature. David
Simpson came to Mottville for the first time ever and won the kart heat and 12
lap feature.
We
really caught a break on the weather! We had showers in the morning and
afternoon and the last shower passed through about 45 minutes before we opened!
But that was it and the sun came out and it was a beautiful night for racing! We
tied our season high with 5 street stocks and our adult crowd in front also tied
a season high thanks to an area track canceling! After the last shower the track
dried very rapidly due to heat and the track was dry to hot laps and racing with
no problem! We also registered 4 new cars on the night! Plus Mersich and
Gaylord returned after long absences!
The
next powder puff is September 6 and the last one for this season is October 5
unless we make some schedule changes!
So
two nights down and one to go in this triple header week-end! Sunday is a
regular show with Pro Stocks joining the field. Weather forecast is picture
perfect so should be a great night of racing!
Then we come back next Friday and start another triple header week-end
with street stocks going 50 laps for $250 to win followed by the Mottville Mini
Cups on Saturday and kids riding in the race cars on Sunday, July 6.
In
the point standings Mersich moved to 8th in SS and Gaylord moved to
13th just one point shy of 11th!
