ROB ATKINSON came to the Mottville Speedway  Sunday for the first time  this season  and won the 20 lap Mottville Mini Cup feature before the largest crowd of the season!

Atkinson and Dave Kutz battled it out for first 14 laps of the feature before got into Atkinson coming out of turn 4 and had to restart on the tail! Jerry Benson then challenged Atkinson the final 6 laps but could not get by and had to hold Kutz for 2nd place! Freeman Hochstetler was 4th followed by John Hackler and Tom Miller.

Atkinson won the heat by mere inches over Kutz and Miller.

Jessica Brown came to Mottville for the first time in 2003 and drove a great race to win the 15 lap kart feature! Brown and Justin Stump battled it out for the entire 15 laps with Brown winning by inches! Bill Stump was 3rd followed by Greg Brown, Ike Sloop, Tim Kurts and Brent Bowman.

In the heat it was Jessica Brown over Bill Stump and Greg Brown and all 3 were within inches of each other at the finish line!

Charlie Krontz won his 13th Street Stock feature of the season with a 15 lap victory over Larry Saunders, season points leader Robert Sutton and Don Vitali. Saunders and Sutton battled for 2nd the final 5 laps and Saunders took 2nd by mere inches at most!

In the heat it was Sutton over Krontz and Saunders.

Shane Eldridge won his 3rd Mini Stock feature of the season with a 15 lap win over season points leader Eric Root, Dale Barnett and leading rookie Glenna Sargent. In the heat it was Root over Barnett and Eldridge.

Chuck Hall survived a wild crash with Richard Allbee to win his 7th Mini Thunder Car feature of the season in a 12 lapper! On lap 9 Hall lost a wheel and Allbee was trying to pass him on the outside and went on top of Hall’s car and then into the exit! Both drivers were fine and both changed tires and wheels and returned! Allbee ended up 2nd with newcomer Anthony Vitali 3rd. In the heat it was Allbee over Hall and Vitali. Tony Eldridge won the Bomber heat and 12 lap feature.

Saturday night the Midwest Classic Dwarf Cars come to Mottville for the 2nd time this season and Sunday night is our regular show with all regular classes.

Not only did we have our largest crowd of the season but several families took advantage our new family pass which admits 2 adults and unlimited children for just $30!

The biggest worry of the night was rain! The Weather Channel said there was a 30% chance of rain before 10 pm. But the skies were cloudy and the wind felt like a rain was coming! Thunder showers were reported to the north and east of the track as well. About feature time we had a report from the National Weather Service that thunder showers were in Laporte County so we figured we had an hour to get the rest of the show in! So we shortened the intermission some but still got the show in even with the delay caused by the Hall-Allbee crash! In fact we were over just after 8 pm!

Justin Stump moved to 3rd in the kart season point standings and his father Bill moved to 4th with Greg Brown moving to 13th. Jessica Brown is really a fantastic racer! She has no fear at all and drives her kart just as hard as it can possibly go!

Eldridge moved to 8th in the MS season point standings and Barnett to 18th. Look for Barnett to move up each week as he is saying he intends to be regular at Mottville because he likes the clean racing!

Don Vitali moved to 5th in the SS season point standings and Saunders to 13th!

Amazing that we had our largest crowd of the season despite the threat of thunder showers and with the Elkhart County Fair going on! Just shows you never know!

This Saturday should be our largest car count of the season as the Dwarfs should have 20-25 cars themselves!

All in all it was an absolutely fantastic night of racing with super close and tight, clean racing and big crowd to cheer them on! The least any SS made was $40 and the least any MS made was $35! Not bad! Lots of cars running other tracks and crashing every night and making less than that!

This was our 45th night of racing with 46 nights to go, 44 of them points nights. So lots more racing action at Mottville left and as always it will be most, most interesting!
