LARRY SAUNDERS won his first Street Stock feature of the season Saturday night at the Mottville Speedway as he passed early leader Don Harrison on lap 7 and went to the win in the 15-lapper! Harrison settled for 2nd with Teddy Stanley 3rd. Results were the same in the heat.

Rod Roberts won his 2nd Mini Stock feature in as many tries this season as he took the 15 lapper over season points leader Eric Root, Matt Van Dam and leading rookie Glenna Sargent.  In the heat it was Root over Roberts, Van Dam and Sargent.

Chuck Hall won his 8th Mini Thunder Car feature of the season as he bested Richard Allbee in 15 laps with heat results the same.

Tony Eldridge won his 4th Bomber feature of the season with a 15-lap victory over Terry Baldwin. Heat results were the same.

MCR Dwarf Cars season points leader Jim Wylie made a daring pass on Rob Roney to win the 20 lap feature. Eric Hoffman was 3rd followed by Chad Goff, Kyle Gabriel, Harold Mitchem, Tom Silva, Jim Chapp, Bill Reagon and Dave Wylie. In the heat it was Roney over Silva and Hoffman.

Well all week long the weather people were predicting thunder showers for Saturday and, of course, they were wrong again! In fact when I left for the track radar showed the only rain way, way north of Mottville and back west as far as the western border of Iowa there was no rain! While it was certainly breezy it never rained a drop!

Belated Happy Birthday to Victor Krontz whose birthday was Friday!

Some bad news the MMC John “The Outlaw” Hackler is having surgery to remove a tumor above his right hip on August 7 and not be racing with us anymore this season. We wish John a speedy recovery and hope to see him back with us racing in 2004!

We registered 3 new cars on the night!

We had one of the “oval” trophies on display in the pit tower Thursday and tonight and it got rave reviews from all who saw it! These for heat winners and top 5 in features next Friday!

Eldridge is creeping up on the Bomber season points lead and may well be within one point after Sunday! VanDam moved to 9th in the MS season point standings.

Sunday we are supposed to have 3 new MTC and several new MS and SS! Should be a real good car count. Threat of rain by late afternoon is only 20% so we should be fine!

Want to thank Eric Root for doing a bunch of mowing at the track this week! We really appreciate it! With all the rain we have had the grass is really growing! Usually by this time of the year you only have to mow about once per month but its been every week in July this year!

Mike Mersich was the track without his ss but did buy 4 Goodyear tires! So I assume he is coming back soon to try them out!

Lots of good reaction on our possible new kart track for 2004! After we get the estimates we will know if we can or can not do it! On the front stretch past the start-finish line is a piece of asphalt that goes in a few feet towards the infield and that is where we propose to put in a new turns one and two. This will require moving dirt in and shaping it and then paving over the dirt. The moving of the dirt should not be too expensive but the paving may be another manner. I would hope we could at least get the dirt in this fall and shaped and then hopefully pave next spring but that all depends on the cost.

If we do get the new track for karts we are thinking about a karts only program on either Friday nights or Sunday afternoons. I said karts only but the Mini Cups may want to race then also. Right now I am thinking we could have several divisions of karts-just off the top of my head –I am thinking open supers on the ¼ mile, open supers on the 1/6 mile, stocks on the 1/6 mile, stocks under 15 on the 1/6 mile, supers under 15 on the ¼ mile, supers under 15 on the 1/6 mile, over 35 supers on the 1/6, over 35 supers on the ¼, over 35 stocks on the 1/6. A kart could enter as many divisions as he or she was legal for with an entry fee for each division but a pit pass of only $15 and general admission of $5! Entry fee would probably be $10 per division per night and min of 3 karts for a division. Trophies to all heat and feature winners and each division would run a heat and feature! So lots of racing! These are just ideas for now and I welcome input from karters. Right now the big question is how much to pave? If you someone who does driveway paving send them my way for an estimate!

Well Sunday should be exciting! Should be a good car count and some new cars and drivers! Hope to see you there!
