MATT VAN DAM won his first feature ever Saturday night at the Mottville Speedway as the 13-year-old held off-season points leader Eric Root for victory in the Mini Stock 12 lapper! Leading rookie Glenna Sargent was 3rd and results were the same in the heat.

Justin Mosher won his 3rd Mini Thunder feature in a row in the 15-lap event! Tony Vitali appeared to have the feature well in hand when he blew a tire after 13 laps. At the half- way point the cars were turned around to go the wrong way around the track and the order was reversed putting early Gary Knight on the tail. Knight came back for 2nd behind Mosher with Richard Allbee 3rd, newcomer Amos Mosher 4th followed by Vitali, Aaron Stevenson and Dean Hoskins.

Allbee won the dash over Justin Mosher and Vitali and the heat over Knight and Vitali.

Street Stock season point’s leader Robert Sutton won his 11th feature of the season with a 12-lap victory over Rick Briney.

Tony Eldridge won the Bomber 15 lap feature, heat and dash.

Rod Morrison led the entire 30 laps of the Short Track Trucks Challenge Series to record the win! Jim Foling was a very close 2nd followed by Bob Fruit, Cary Cole, Keith Wioncek, Scott Gaines and Jesse Worcester. Morrison won the heat over Fruit and Cole and in the dash it was near photo finish as Cole beat Wioncek. Cole was fast qualifier at 15.469.

The trucks really put on a fantastic show and I want to thank them and their organization for coming to Mottville twice this season! We will always have a place in their history since their very first race was held at Mottville. This would appear to be a traveling series with a big potential and we really wish them continued success the rest of this season and in the seasons to come!

For once it was actually hot and humid! The weather channel and NWS both said 40% chance of thundershowers and there was TS watch out but we had not a drop of rain!

How about those MTC? 8 of them and on a Saturday night! Wow! We now have almost 20 MTC actively running! If they ever come on the same night it will be quite a show!

Had a fan come up to me after the races and tell me what a place the Mottville Speedway is! As a promoter I rarely get compliments, especially this season, and he said he had been to Flat Rock Speedway last week but liked Mottville way better! That is really high praise! He said he felt Mottville was a really fun track and he especially liked the way we ran the MTC the wrong way the 2nd half of the feature!

Compared to a week ago tonight was really terrific! One of our better Saturday night car counts of late and a decent size crowd!

Sunday we have the Pro Stocks joining the field and hopefully we will have some karts also! The PS have only 4 nights left this season and they will not run in the Indiana-Michigan Challenge Cup! We will also not be running PS in 2004, as they are just too expensive for us. PS are now getting what Late Models were getting only 2-3 years ago!

I had a question tonight about cars coming after the PS season is over and would I run them separately if they were not legal SS? Yes, I would run them in a separate “open” division but not for any set pay and I would refuse to lose any money on them so they would have to run for less than they bring in.

Sunday we also have a powder puff and I am hearing that we have several ladies who will be racing with us for the first time this season! Sounds exciting! Should be another fun night of racing with our PS, SS, MS, MTC, Bombers and Karts plus the powder puff!

On the bulletin board I posted what our full feature 14 car pay-off would be for Mini-Stocks and I feel it is a very good pay-off for cars running on radial tires that you can buy at any tire store for a reasonable price! Check it out!

If things go according to plan the MS will also be running for a nice pay-off in the 18th Annual Indiana-Michigan Challenge Cup the last weekend of October!

Meanwhile we have like 32 nights left in this 2004 season and lots of excitement still to come! Sunday should be a great night of racing!
