BARRY HARRISON took the lead on lap 9 of the 25 lap Mini Stock feature and went on to his 4th feature win of the season and $115 pay-off Saturday night at the Mottville Speedway!

Harrison passed early leader Rick Fritz for the lead and Fritz then had to hold off Adam Routh and Eric Root for 2nd as the 3 waged a tremendous battle for 2nd the rest of the way! John Yoder was 5th followed by Matt Van Dam and Glenna Sargent.

In the Jenkins NAPA Auto Parts Stores dash it was Harrison beating Root in a near photo finish while in the heat Root won in a near photo finish over Harrison! In the slow dash it was Yoder over Van Dam.

Fred Garrett won his 24th Mini Thunder Car feature of the season by mere inches over Tony Vitali! With 5 laps to go the cars were turned around and went the opposite way around the track and Vitali gave Garrett all he could handle but had to settle for 2nd with season points leader Richard Allbee 3rd. In the heat it was Allbee over Garrett and Vitali.

7 people entered the spectator drags with Vic Krontz going undefeated and taking home the trophy! Tony Vitali was 2nd followed by Shelly Lauderdale, Rita Courtney, Judith Holden, Tony Eldridge and Becky Baldwin. The next spectator drags will be September 13.

We had 8 MS on hand on a Saturday night and not just any Saturday night but a Saturday night when two area tracks were running their MS season championship races! MTC car count was down after being 8-9 the last 3 weeks. Leroy Dick had his MTC at the track but once again could not get it started. Meanwhile between Justin and Amos Mosher they want to sell one of their MTC and whichever one they do not sell Justin will drive and Amos plans on going late model in 2004! At least that is what they told me! Leroy may buy one of their cars.

You will see a lot of adjustments in the MS and MTC season point standings before this triple-header weekend is over! Harrison moved to 6th in the standings with Van Dam moving to 7th and Routh 12th.  Vitali moved to 8th in MTC.

Tony Vitali and Tony Eldridge want to start a new truck class for 2004! 4 cylinder trucks, they said rear wheel drive but I would imagine front wheel drives could be included. They claim to have 4-5 trucks committed for 2004 so stay tuned for more!

One night down and 2 to go in our final triple-header weekend of the season! Seems impossible that its Labor Day weekend already!

Sunday night is autograph night and then Monday is trophy night plus bonus points and triple points! We should see a gradual increase in car count this weekend and then starting next weekend the car count should pick up even more. I have learned that in planning for the next season you should never count on anything that happens after Labor Day! Plan for the next season based on what took place by Labor Day! That is what we are doing for 2004!

Dee Degoede called me Friday and he wants to sponsor a trophy night soon. He also said he has purchased a street stock and will be hot lapping it Thursday and that Sandra and Sonnie will be racing Sunday!

It was a perfect night for racing from the driver’s standpoint as it was in the 60’s! All of sudden hot chocolate sales went way up!

Want to thank Richard Allbee and Eric Root for helping me pile up the tires around turns 3 and 4 to get them ready for a tire recycler who will be picking them up sometime in September! It was really hard work I can tell you that!

Looking forward to night 2 of the triple header weekend and more exciting racing but when it comes to close racing it will be hard to top tonight!
