SHANE
ELDRIDGE won his 7th feature of the
season and took home $110 on the night as he got by Merle Yoder on lap 22 of the
Mini Stock feature and went on to the win!
Eric
Root led the first 7 laps before Yoder took command and built up a lead of over
a quarter of a lap! But Eldridge, twice starting from the tail, kept closing the
gap and when Yoder hit lapped traffic Eldridge his move and passed Yoder in
lapped traffic on the inside for the win! Yoder settled for 2nd
followed by Barry Harrison, Rick Fritz, Root, Michael Landry, John Yoder, Mike
Hoff and Glenna Sargent.
Fritz
won the heat over Landry, Eldridge and Harrison while Yoder won the Jenkins NAPA
Auto Parts Stores dash over Harrison and Root.
Larry
Saunders won the 12 lap street stock feature over Robert Sutton.
Gary
Knight won the first 15-lap Mini Thunder Car feature over Richard Allbee, Tony
Eldridge, Dean Hoskins, Tony Vitali, Leroy Dick, Josh Herr and Fred Garrett.
In
the 2nd 15-lap feature it was Allbee over Eldridge, Dick, Vitali and
Hoskins.
Hoskins
won the dash over Allbee and Vitali while Hoskins and Knight won heats.
In
the first 12-lap powder puff it was Audrey Eldridge over Kelsey Sanders and Tina
Smith and in the 2nd 12 lapper it was Hillary Eldridge over Shannon
Hoskins and Shandi Saunders.
It
was quite the night for the Eldridge family as Shane won the big money in MS,
Hillary and Audrey won powder puffs and Tony took a 2nd and 3rd
in the MTC features!
Tony
Eldridge bought Fred Garrett’s MTC and Garrett got one of Chuck Hall’s car.
Josh Herr drove Tony’s old car and it was his first time ever racing and he
did quite well!
Tonight’s
two powder puffs were not like any other we have had this year! All these ladies
drove fast and I mean fast! Quite a show!
Jeff
Van Dam, father of MS Matt, called about the time we opened and said they had
hit a deer on the way to the track and hurt the tow truck vehicle greatly but no
human injuries! They hope to find a tow vehicle for Sunday but if not will be
back next week! We are just glad no one was hurt!
We
had 9 MS as it was as this class continues to grow and we are paying them very
well!
I
went to Angola Speedway Friday night for the first time since late September of
1990! I noticed they have spent a lot of money on asphalt for the drivers and
they have wonderful fencing around ¾ of the track and around the property. They
ran Auto Value Sprints, Super Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks
and Mini Stocks! Lots of cars for certain!
We
should have an even higher car count Sunday when the Mini Cups are added to
program to run a 30-lap feature and 2 ten-lap heats! Plus it will be the final
appearance for the Pro Stocks who are running their season championship.
Plus
Rod Roberts says he is bringing 2 MTC, one for his son and one for Vic Krontz to
drive! Mike Guthrie will be back with a MTC and starting next week should be
racing both Saturday and Sunday nights which is good news!
Leroy
Dick drove the former Justin Mosher MTC and each race showed improvement! He had
several fans in the stands rooting for him!
When
it comes to SS we are offering several options for the next few weeks. Our
regular class of SS which we have run all season for which most New Paris cars
should fit in fine. Then we are willing to form a separate class for Galesburg
and Angola SS who do not meet our rules. Finally we are willing to form yet a 3rd
class of SS meeting our rules but on radial tires. This 3rd class
could have either a 2bbl or 4 bbl carb since they will be on radial tires. So we
will play it by ear the rest of this month and then see where we are come
October.
Meanwhile
it was yet another exciting night of racing action at Mottville and Sunday
should be even more exciting with the mini cups coming and even larger field of
cars expected!
