MERLE
YODER passed
Jay Howard on lap 13 of the 25 lap Mini Stock feature and went on for his 14th
feature win of the season and $115 Saturday night at the Mottville Speedway!
John
Yoder led the first 6 laps before Howard, driving at Mottville for the first
time ever, took command. Rick Fritz came home 2nd followed by Eric
Root, Howard, John Yoder, Matt Van Dam, Glenna Sargent and Ron Laughman.
Merle
Yoder won the Jenkins NAPA Auto Parts Store dash over John Yoder and Root.
Howard won the fast heat over Merle Yoder and Fritz while Van Dam won the slow
heat over John Yoder and Laughman.
Fred
Garrett and Derk Sargent each won 15 lap Mini Thunder Car features. Garrett won
the first feature for this 26th feature victory of the season. Tony
Vitali was 2nd followed by Sargent, Dean Hoskins, Richard Allbee,
Tony Eldridge, Gary Knight, Mike Guthrie and Brandi Bowlby. In the 2nd

Vitali, Allbee, Hoskins, Knight, Guthrie and Eldridge.
Hoskins
won the first heat over Sargent and Garrett while Sargent won the 2nd
heat over Allbee and Garrett.
Vic
Krontz won another spectator drags with Tony Eldridge 2nd, Rita
Courtney 3rd and Shelly Lauderdale 4th.
Chalk
the weatherman up again for a miss! Despite prediction of thunderstorms it was a
very nice night and very warm! Not a hint of rain!
Before
the races we observed a moment of silence in memory of Dave Tober and Governor
Frank O’Bannon. Tober raced with us in the early 1990’s and suffered a
stroke this spring and died last week at age of 51. O’Bannon, governor of
Indiana, suffered a stroke Monday morning and died this morning.
Want
to thank Eric Root and Richard Allbee for helping me winterize the announcing
tower Tuesday! This was a project that did not get done last fall due to winter
setting in early. We insulated the bottom of the tower and covered it and then
put a new ceiling in the top of the tower.
We
had 8 MS on hand despite another track close by running a two day show. I
predict that if you take the all the MS at that track and divide their total
pay-off by the number of the cars their average pay for the two days will be
less than ours for these two days and we are running regular races both days!
Howard
purchased Merle Yoder’s back-up car and looked very very good for his first
night out. He has two years experience racing dirt in Pennsylvania.
If
you want to get into MTC racing Rod Roberts has two turn key Ford Escorts all
ready to go, one is $150 and then other $125. You can call him at 574-825-7301
but call quick because several people are interested!
The
next spectator drags are October 4.
Late
Models are coming to Mottville Oct 11! A group of 10 drivers from Baer Field are
coming that day! Its one show you will not want to miss!
Brian
Gordon brought a radial tire SS to the track tonight but had mechanical
problems.
We
are offering two different divisions of SS now. One with racing tires and one
with radial tires. You can check the rules on this website. Whichever division
has the better car count is the one which will be a part of the 18th
Annual Indiana-Michigan Challenge Cup at the end of October!
Vitali
moved to 5th in the MTC season point standings.
It was a another great night of racing action at Mottville and Sunday should be more of the same!
