JAY HOWARD
won
his first feature of the season Saturday night at the Mottville Speedway as he
held off a hard charging Shane Eldridge for the win in the 15 lapper! Eldridge
settled for a close 2nd by Merle Yoder, Derik Sturdivant, Eric Root
and Glenna Sargent.
Eldridge took the heat over
Sturdivant and Root. Howard moved into 5th in the season point
standings.
Dave Logan made it 3 Street
Stock feature wins in a row as he won the 15 lapper over Mike Mersich, Scott
Newsom and Larry Saunders. Mersich won the heat over Logan and Saunders.
Jacob Caines took over the
kart season points lead by winning the heat and 8 lap feature.
Derk Sargent and Larry
Saunders each won action packed, close 15 lap Mini Thunder Car features! In the
first 15 lapper Sargent held off Chuck Hall for his 8th feature win
of the season! Saunders was 3rd followed by Root, Tony Eldridge, Gary
Knight, Tony Vitali, Ron Kern, Jr., Dave Smith, Sr and Kelsey Saunders.
In the 2nd
feature it was Saunders by a mere eyelash over Hall! Root was a close 3rd
and Eldridge right behind in 4th. Smith was 5th followed
by Kern and Knight.
Sargent, Kelsey Saunders and
Dean Hoskins all won heats.
For the last several years
the last Saturday night in September has featured our biggest crowds of the
season and sometimes our highest car count of the season as well. Mother Nature
made sure that would not be the case tonight as we were faced with on and off
showers then periods of sun all afternoon but during hot laps the track dried
and it never rained again! Actually our car count and crowd was very good
considering the weather conditions!
We had reports of at least
one new MTC coming next week and also a MS and I understand the MS will be
driven by a female driver who has done quite well in the past at another track!
Our web site crossed 70,000
hits on Friday! Simply unreal! Great job by Rita Courtney and Shelly Lauderdale!
The Root racing team has
really got 3 very fast MTC! They now have 99, 8 and 4 and all 3 are top 5 cars!
NEW GOODS DEPT-GOSHEN
COLLISION CENTER has agreed to be one of the sponsors for the 18th
ANNUAL INDIANA-MICHIGAN CHALLENGE CUP October
25 and 26! Working on two other potential sponsors and should know for certain
on one of them this week!
Happy 33rd
birthday to Ron Kern, Jr, driver of the MTC 29! Oh, if only I was 33 again and
knew what I know now!
Lots of BONUS POINTS
will be on the line Sunday! Not sure what weather conditions will be but
I am sure we will running anyway! Tonight’s racing was as close as we have had
all season and well worth the price of admission and more! Expect more the same
Sunday! This will be our final 6 pm Sunday start as we start at 5 on Sundays in
October and then in November go to 4 pm for Saturdays and Sundays!
