Two nights down and two to go in our 4 nights out of 5 racing this week or is actually 6 nights of racing in 9 days? Two entirely different nights of racing Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday was hot and very very humid and as a result tempers were really flaring but no worse than they were flaring at Plymouth Friday  night when I was there! Sunday, however, we had a cool breeze and it was great! No problems at all! I was delighted at the large crowd in the stands on Saturday which was really not expected considering the humidity! Pit count and car count were down some and we expected that.

Sunday we actually had too many cars! How is that possible you might ask? Well when you have a lot cars but a small pit pass count and below average crowd in the stands it is not good and that is, very frankly, what we had Sunday at Mottville! We had 9 Street Stocks and paid them 100-75-60-50-40-30-30-25 which was a real stretch for us with the pit count! 8 Mottville Stocks were paid 75-60-50-40-35-30-25 which was also a big stretch! We had 8 MTC Saturday and came back Sunday with 7!

Mike Jones has a new car and his old car now belongs to pure rookie Justin Mosher. Tod Behlke now has a MTC! Fred Garrett has switched from TC to MTC and suddenly where we had 5 we have 8. Mike Aumack wrecked his MTC Saturday but hopes to be back Tuesday. Meanwhile his brother Nathan won another feature Saturday and took 2nd on Sunday! Saturday the MTC started 8 in the feature and 3 finished and they had a 6 car pileup!

The full sized TC count was down a little bit at 5 on Saturday and 7 on Sunday. It was great to see Eric Root finally win his first feature ever Sunday! Long overdue and most deserved! Saturday he won the heat and then had heat exhaustion and could not run the feature! Well David Schaefer drove the car in the feature Saturday and you talk about a wild ride! Wow! At least twice David went on wild spins into the infield and the best way I can describe is that it looked like David was riding a wild horse! The car never flipped but it sure went wildly through the infield! Fred Garrett won his first MTC feature Sunday night in only his 2nd try!

Saturday night's kart feature was another great one! First Eric McGlothlen lead and looked terrific and then Travis Forsyth and Shawn, his brother, fought it out lap after lap with Travis taking a narrow win! Along the way in the 15 lapper about the half of the 9 karts dropped out and I do not know if it was due the humidity and heat or not.

30 nights of racing now in as we near the halfway point of the season! 2000 was our best year of the 10 of current ownership and at the end June 2001 we are ahead of where we were last year at that time so we are most grateful! Trophy nights coming up Tuesday and Wednesday, July 3 and 4 with American Flag trophies to the heat and dash winners and top 5 in "A" stock car features. These trophies have always been popular in the past and requested!

Then Saturday the Vintage Mods return to Mottville. Wednesday, July 11 is our big 50 lapper for Four Cylinders paying $300 to win plus TC, MTC and Bombers. If this show goes well we may schedule a similar show in August! The VM's will be back on the 14th and then the 15th is Mid-Season Championship night with another trophy night. This time picture plaques. July 3, 4 ,11 and 15 are triple points plus bonus points nights so the points race should be most interesting!

Looking forward to some great racing Tuesday and Wednesday and hope to see you at Mottville Speedway
