Randy Morley won his 100th feature win of his 9 year racing career Sunday night at the Mottville Speedway! 7 of those 9 years have been at Mottville and he says that is like 21 years at any other track! The Sunday night win made it 25 SS feature wins on the season for Morley and he had 44 one season! The feature wins include SS and TC. Quite impressive!

Decent week-end at Mottville although most of Saturday it certainly did not appear it would be so with rain all morning and into the afternoon! But although the skies were dark all afternoon and evening after we opened the gates it did not rain again!

Weather certainly held the crowd down but we had a season high 13 karts! We also had 7 SS, 6 MS, 5 TC and 3 MTC for a total of 34 and they put on a very good show! We paid the SS and MS far more than normal for the feature: $100-60-50-40-30-25!

Greg Brown was really impressive in winning his 10th feature of the season in a close finish over Andrew Behlke who led the early part of the 15 lap feature! In both the stock kart heat and feature there were 6 karts battling for the lead! Eric McGlothlen won the heat and looked most impressive!

Nick Landon won the super kart feature and was a close 2nd in the heat. Just found out that Nick is the son of Jerry Landon, the Formula Indy driver who was killed at Kalamazoo Speedway when Nick was only 8! Racing is obviously in Nick’s blood as he tested a winged sprint at Mottville Saturday night and said he is buying one this week!

Fred Collins won his first TC feature of the season and had to out duel Morley for the win Saturday night! Fred has a big following and they were all most thrilled!

Terry Kline returned with his SS 27 and won the dash and heat but in the feature developed a low left rear tire and had to settle for 2nd to Morley!  Matt Elsey was a strong 3rd.

Jim Trolarb came back in his 57 but we had to switch him from MS to SS as the car was just not legal for MS! We are inspecting many of the MS to make sure they meet the rules! An area track has opened up their rules considerably on this class and we are not going to follow suit as we want to keep these cars within some kind of reasonable price range! What happens over and over in racing is that people put far too much money in their cars and then complain that purses are not large enough!

David Fugate was again awesome in winning the heat and his 9th feature of the season! Jason Schaefer was a strong 2nd! Jean Behlke returned after a long absence and looked impressive! She was a very strong 3rd after being the early leader!

Sunday we had 12 SS! They really put on a show with a dash, two heats and 25 lap feature! Donald Hundley has his best night of the season and held off Jeff Brunt for 2nd! Hundley also won a heat! Brunt had just returned from Bristol and watching NASCAR on Saturday. We started 12 cars in the SS feature and only 7 finished! Two went out when Matt Elsey spun in turn one and Paul Scott hit him. Paul says he is going to build an entirely new car for next season!

Robert Teadt, Jr.’s MS 73 was inspected by Tom Pearson from front to tail and despite many complaints from other drivers over the course of the season was found to be legal! He went on to win his 13th feature of the season but again Jason Schaefer was a very strong 2nd! Jason told me afterwards that he is putting a new engine in his number 61 MS and expects to really go after Fugate and Teadt! Merle Yoder put two new Good Years on his MS 71 and was a impressive 3rd and won the dash!

Mike Ermel , a cousin of the Behlke's, came to Mottville for the first time and ran MTC. He led the feature at the halfway point but when the cars were turned around and ran the wrong way around the track he dropped to last! Probably has very little experience running that direction! Meanwhile Nathan Aumack recorded his 15th feature win of the season!

Kart points leader Andrew Behlke made it 12 feature wins on the season by easily wining the 12 lap feature. Adam Steglich looked good in the heat but had mechanical woes in the feature and pulled off.

We registered 3 new SS and one MTC Sunday and I expect many more registrations during September as other tracks begin to close for the season!

We have run 49 nights at Mottville this season which means we have 26 left! That is more nights left to race than most tracks run in an entire season!

Final triple header week-end of the season coming up! Regular shows Saturday and Sunday and then Monday we have another trophy night with bonus points and triple points! Plus drivers driving 2 of the 3 nights get bonus points and those driving all 3 even more bonus points! Point standings could well change!

Trophies will be given to all dash and heat winners and top 3 in the features.

I am expecting the SS class to really explode during September! Would not be at all surprised if we hit 20 or even more!

Speaking of points reminds me of points money! Come February at the Banquet we will be handing out the points money to those who ran 80% of the races for the season or more. Right now Morley, Merle Yoder, Wesley Schaefer and Jason Schaefer are the only drivers who have 80% in! Behlke is close and could make it . It takes real dedication to get into the points money but the bonus in February is nice!

We are now heading into the biggest two months of the season for us! September and October have always been our best two months year after year and I have no reason to believe this year will be any different! So come on out to Mottville and see lots of exciting racing because there is no place quite it anywhere on earth!
