Beautiful weather and great racing featured our final triple header week-end of the season at the Mottville Speedway! Labor Day week-end is always a big week-end at Mottville and this week-end was certainly no exception!

Saturday Eric McGlothlen won his first kart feature of the season . He also won the dash and a heat to make it a perfect night and 3 trophies! Monday he came back and won his 2nd feature and will soon have more trophies in his case than his father! Saturday Greg Brown gave Eric a good run in the dash and heat but had mechanical failure in the feature. Saturday night we had to black flag a karter for wearing shorts! All drivers including kart drivers must wear at least long pants and long sleeve shirts and if I were driving I would at least have leather gloves!

Todd and Tim Kirts returned for the 2nd Saturday in a row but L.J. Schaidt was just too fast for them!

Ersell Eby found out she really liked pursuit races so Saturday and Sunday nights we added a pursuit race for the TC. It was really interesting Saturday night when 3 cars spun in turn 2 at the same time! Made scoring a nightmare! Fred Collins won his 2nd feature of the season Saturday night and came back for strong 2nd’s both Sunday and Monday! He told me Monday he has 4 friends working on TC! Now that is the secret for more money for all divisions! Get more cars and we pay more! Way to go Fred! Fred also ended up winning our first pursuit race of the season!

We had two cars from Illinois run with us Saturday and Sunday! Kevin Newton in the 157 TC and Tony Aardman in the 5 TC! Good to have them and hope to have them back again! Tom Waddell was a very strong 3rd Saturday night in the TC feature and he has the Lincoln running faster each week!

Saturday night David Fugate was again awesome in the MS 89! He won his 10th feature of the season and David Schaefer returned after a long absence and looked great, both racing wise and physically! Jason Schaefer had a new engine in his MS 61 but was not pleased with it at all!  Points leader Merle Yoder was a strong 3rd Saturday in the MS feature and Wesley Schaefer came home 4th! John Yoder took a day off from fishing and it was good to have John back again!

Randy Morley made it 101 feature wins as he took the SS feature. Jeff Brunt started slowly but came home 2nd and was challenging Morley at the end but ran out of laps! Ernie Hassler was a very strong 3rd and promised to return again Sunday but we never saw him again!

Nathan Aumack passed brother Mike on the final lap of the MTC feature for his 16th feature win of the season! This kid is awesome no doubt about it! George Davis returned in his new 38 MTC!

Sunday Mike Aumack finally won his first MTC feature of the season and it was well deserved! Been a long struggle for Mike who could never quite beat his brother but Sunday he did and in convincing style! He was one happy camper!

In the MS feature Robert Teadt, Jr. passed Fugate on lap 18 and went on for the win. Fugate said his tires went away! David Schaefer was a very strong 3rd! Again Merle Yoder was right there in 4th! In the heat Rich Barngover came to Mottville for the first time and spun from the inside of the track on the front stretch to the outside wall and 4 cars had to dodge him! Somehow all 4 missed him but it was heart stopping I can tell you and I had a great seat to see it! Wow!

Brunt easily won the SS feature for his 5th win of the season! Morley was running 2nd and spun just out of turn 2 on the final lap and had to settle for 4th! Ryan Prough came home 2nd!

In TC Morley won his 7th feature of the season. Just before the finish line on the final lap-and I mean just before Eric Root spun and he went from 3rd to 5th! Eric sure does give the fans some thrills! Fugate drove the TC 11 , subbing for Waddell, and looked great in wining the pursuit and coming home 3rd in the feature but he told me afterwards it was way too much work! David Cruz, from Illinois, won the heat and Newton the dash so we had 4 different winners in 4 events! Hard to top that! For Cruz it was his first win ever!

Adam Steglich was our only kart Sunday and he ran the dash and feature alone and got two trophies and picked up a boat load of points as reward! Good job Adam!

As expected Monday was our high car count of the 3 days and our biggest crowd! 12 SS were on hand and 9 Ms and 34 total in 5 divisions!

Morley picked the perfect time to win his 27th SS feature of the season as we paid $125 to win! The rules call for $100 to win with 12 cars but we paid $25 extra! Joe Reaume was 2nd and his father Alan 3rd. The 35 lap SS feature was really exciting!  Hunley came home 4th and Terry Humphrey returned after a long absence and won a heat and was 5th in the feature! Robert Sprague was 6th and the top 6 cars really were strong!

It simply was not Matt Elsey’s night! He spun out at least 3 times and only once was it his fault! But you have nights like this and he told me he will be back! Good attitude this young man has! Hunley really had his best night of the season as he won the dash and a heat to go with his 4th place  feature finish!

Teadt picked up his 15th feature win of the season! Jason Schaefer came home 2nd but the story of the night in the MS division was young Jamie Kline! She was a strong 3rd in the feature and it took Jason about 10 laps to get by her! In the heat Teadt passed her on the final lap as she led for 9 laps! Larry Birk wrapped out a consistent 3 days with a solid 4th place finish! We had a scare in the feature when on the front stretch Wesley Schaefer bumped brother David and sent him to the wall! David was sore but otherwise fine and came back to finish 5th! Wesley, after winning the dash, had to be towed off the track after hitting David.

In TC David Terry blew his engine but told me he would be back next week in a MTC which is great because we certainly need the MTC! Brunt also blew his engine in the SS #1 and may not be back this week-end but said in two weeks for certain!

The racing was so good Monday night and I was so pumped up afterwards that I had trouble getting to sleep! Now that is a great feeling!

I am really excited about the remainder of the season! We have 23 nights left and I really expect our car count to zoom! We have run 52 nights and with 23 left we actually have more nights to run than the average track runs in the entire season!

So come on out to Mottville and see some great racing every Saturday and Sunday night through the end of November!
