Interest in Mottville Maddness V is high!! We have had many inquires already about the January 6, 2026 race. Since this is not a points race the tire rule will be slightly modified for this race only. I seriously doubt softer tires will be much help on a hard wet track. Therefore for SS, MS, and Bomber classes, the tire rule will be "any maximum 70 series, maximum 15"x 8" tire". We will not durameter tires for this race only.

This week alone I have received e-mails on Mottville Maddness. Now if the weather will just cooperate and we can get into the track from US12! Remember we do have January 7, 13 and the 14th as back up dates if needed.

On another front we have already sold more banquet tickets for the February 10, 2026 banquet than we had total there last year and last year was one of our better years. In fact, we may set an all time high and pass 1991, our first season under current management, when more people came to see what trouble there would be than to see the awards.

Good Year tires is awarding track champion jackets to the SS, MS, and Bomber season points champions and the jackets just got in and they are very very nice! Since we sold more tires this season, Good Year sent better jackets.

Also at the banquet, David T. Schaefer, Wesley Schaefer, Randy Morley and Melissa Worthington have points money coming as they were the four drivers to race 80% of the nights during the 2000 season! It takes true dedication to stick it out for at least 56 of the 70 nights and for that dedication we want to give them some reward.

Remember January 6 is the last day you can get a banquet ticket for $20, after that it goes to $25. It has always been amazing to me how many people each year wait and pay the $25. Final Note on the banquet. for now. This banquet should be the very best as Ersell Eby and her family are working on some extra special things for it! Stay tuned..

Picked up the Elkhart Truth Wednesday morning and went to the sports section and read about the New Paris Speedway banquet and was shocked to find out that Plymouth Speedway is switching to Friday nights in 2001. This puts them up against South Bend Speedway for the same cars. This was tried in either 1989 or 88 and both tracks suffered greatly. Finally Plymouth caved in before mid-season and went back to Sunday nights and has stayed there until now. Hard to imagine Plymouth getting enough people to pay late models on Friday night when South Bend and other tracks are already running Friday nights. But it means Mottville Speedway is about all alone on Sunday nights. We are committed to running both Saturday and Sunday and we are most pleased with the way things went in 2000 using this format. For 2001 we are starting at 7 P.M. on Saturday night, and 6 P.M. on Sunday nights so we will have everyone out and away earlier and make it easier to get to work on Monday.

Another thing we are going to try to do in 2001, is, speed up our shows even more. We actually are not bad now, but our intermission can be cut 45-60 minutes now to about 15-20 minutes by eliminating the sports challenge and selling the 50/50 tickets at the ticket booth and pit tower and not sending the "World Famous Flag Woman" around at intermission. Initially this may hurt the 50/50 pot until people get into the habit of buying their tickets from Tom and Lillie each night, but if it gets us home a half hour earlier on Sunday night it may well be worth it. Right now I am thinking we should be done around 9-9:30 on Saturday nights and 8 on Sunday nights. And, remember for most of the season, in Indiana that means 8-8:30 on Saturday and 7 on Sundays. NICE.

Registrations for 2001 also is way ahead of this point last year in 2000. We will soon start showing which numbers are taken, right here on the Mottville Speedway web site. And the numbers will be updated weekly, if need be.

We hope to go to a nice computer system for keeping track points and pay-off for 2001 and if we do then duplicate numbers are out. Also you will see in the 2001 rules that if you miss 3 consecutive weeks your number is open. So the drivers running regularly with us will have their favorite number in most cases. Remember, numbers from 2000 are being held until January 1, 2001, only and then only for those who ran at least 50% of the nights in 2000.

Finally, we are getting some sponsorship inquiries for 2001 and may have more trophy and plaque sponsors for Dash and Heat events on a regular basis as well as sponsors for trophy nights. I am excited about 2001 and ready now!! ARE YOU??
